My PhD is focusing on developing methods to characterise the patterns and dynamics of woody vegetation from savannas and drylands. I am using deep learning and high resolution satellite imagery to detect and observe the changes in woody vegetation over the last 3 decades and to analyse the potential forcing mechanisms. The PhD is part of the project: Unravelling climate change impacts on savanna vegetation ecosystems (CLISA) and is funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark (DFF).
